Bears stomp Wildcats, need to defeat Sun Devils Saturday for Pac-10 Title
The Pac-10 title is on the line tomorrow after the Bears defeated the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday night in Haas Pavilion. Sporting 25 year anniversary Jordan unis and getting great shooting performances from Theo, PC, Boykin and Randle (86 of their 95 points from the big 4), the Bears handled the Wildcats easily in front of 10,545 fans in Berkeley. Fans responded to head coach Mike Montgomery's plea to fill Haas, as the Bears look to end their Pac-10 futility and win their first conference championship since 1960.
To do so, they'll have to get similar contributions from their big 4 and make sure Arizona State's scrappy squad is put away early on Saturday. I've stated it before, but if any year is going to be the year to break our conference title streak, it has to be this one. We've got 4 returning senior starters, one of which is making a serious run at Pac-10 POY honors, new coaches, programs in decline, and early NBA departures to make it the easiest title run in recent memory. All of the Pac-10's issues have created a wide open opportunity to grab the title, and I challenge our POY candidate (Randle) and our senior leaders (Boykin, PC, Theo) to bring the banner back to Berkeley!
