Montgomery suspends F Omondi Amoke

As California prepares for their opening round game against the Louisville Cardinals, they will have to do so without starting forward Omondi Amoke after coach Mike Montgomery has suspended him indefinitely for a violation of team rules. Although on paper this might not seem huge as he only averages 4.8 ppg, this is a big deal as it takes away an athletic big man on our already thin front court. Now we must rely even more heavily upon Jamal Boykin, and get something of value from either Markkuri Sanders-Frison or Max Zhang. Going against Samardo Samuels and the Cardinals front line just got a whole lot tougher, not to mention what kind of mental impact this will have on the Golden Bears. Not the way I wanted our tournament to start off at all.
