In the 4th inning of Thursday’s game, where the Diamondbacks defeated the Giants, Christian Walker was hit by a pitch in the hand/wrist region, prompting an immediate pinch-run for and his removal from the game.
Following some examinations, it appears that Walker has managed to steer clear of any significant injury, as the Diamondbacks announced it as nothing more than a right-hand contusion.
Walker received the Gold Glove award for the 2nd consecutive year in 2023. At the plate, he drove in 103 runs and hammered 33 home runs, leading the Diamondbacks in both categories.
With a roster brimming with young, speedy talent, Walker stands out as the ideal veteran power hitter, adeptly occupying the cleanup spot for the Diamondbacks.
The D-backs recently settled arbitration with Walker, finalizing a one-year deal with their first baseman back in early January.
Tonight, Arizona aims to extend their Spring Training winning streak to three games as they face the Cincinnati Reds. First pitch is slated for 6:05 PM.
