Jaguars’ QB Mac Jones Takes Subtle Shot At Patriots
Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots traded quarterback Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars last month, ending an incredibly rough three-year stretch for Jones in Foxborough.

Jones seems relieved to be in his new surroundings, and during a recent clip where he discusses his hobbies, Jones revealed that he actually enjoys rapping.

He even said he has a couple of songs that no one knows about, but that he may feel more comfortable talking about them now that he is no longer in New England.

Jones is obviously joking here, so this is all in good fun.

But it isn’t hard to believe that the 25-year-old is happy that he is no longer a member of the Patriots.

Jones, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was selected by New England with the 15th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He actually had a solid rookie campaign, throwing for 3,801 yards, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing 67.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 92.5 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. He even led the Pats to a playoff berth.

However, the following year, Jones regressed considerably, finishing with 2,997 yards, 14 touchdowns and 11 picks while completing 65.2 percent of his throws and posting an 84.8 passer rating in 14 games.

Jones continued his downward spiral in 2023, totaling 2,120 yards, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions before being benched in favor of Bailey Zappe after 11 starts.

Some feel that the Patriots’ system simply was not a fit for Jones and that they did not do a good enough job developing him.

Now, Jones will head to the Jaguars where he will serve as Trevor Lawrence’s backup. Perhaps he will get a chance to start somewhere again in a couple of years.

But for now, Mac Jones can relax in a low-pressure environment. And maybe release some music.
